Following the great success of AIA Austin Homes Tour and Palm Springs Modernism Week Fall Preview here is another great virtual event that will offer online lectures and tours starting November 6th, 2020.
TUCSON MODERNISM WEEK 2020
The Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation presents this 9th annual event online and in cyberspace. This unique experience will feature new versions of our classic programs and favorite events including lectures with nationally respected authors and historians, a virtual interactive 360 4K Mid-Century Home Tour, downloadable content including self-guided tours, a digital Mod Cocktail experience, and partner experiences including special Modernist programming from the University of Arizona Museum of Art.
Tucson Modernism Week Virtual 2020 is made possible through the generous support of Visit Tucson, City of Tucson, and Pima County. You can support the 2020 programming and the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation with a certifiable contribution.
Tucson’s modernism captured the exuberance of the post-WWII era and is defined by clean, simple lines and a casual informality. In the southern Arizona desert, the movement has come to be defined as Sonoran Modern with the use of regional materials, adaptation to the desert climate, and an emphasis on indoor/outdoor living. As part of Tucson Modernism Week programming, we work to bring various perspectives on Modern Design to Tucson.

As soon as we can travel again, one of our next journeys will be back to Arizona. After a short trip to Taliesin West two years ago, during which we were able to immerse ourselves in the architecture of Arizona, there is definitely still a lot to see, do and learn out there in the desert.
