Hess is an architect, an architectural critic since 1986 for the “San Jose Mercury News”, historian, educator, preservationist, and author of “Frank Lloyd Wright: Natural Design, Organic Architecture: Lessons for Building Green from an American Original”, “Frank Lloyd Wright Midcentury Modern”, “Frank Lloyd Wright: The Houses”, “Frank Lloyd Wright: The Buildings”, “Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie Houses”. Along with 15 other architectural books and more than a hundred articles, essays and lectures, Hess is a preeminent authority on Modern architecture and urbanism in the mid-twentieth century.
