Recently we found an article about a female architect from Bulgaria and asked ourselves: How comes that we don’t know anything about local architecture there?
Stefka Georgieva is an exceptional protagonist on the Bulgarian architectural scene in the 1960s and 70s behind the Iron Curtain. Focusing on the buildings and projects she designed, Architektur im Ringturm shows a portrait of the life’s work of this exceptional protagonist in its latest exhibition. Each of her creations has a distinctive look, a feature that has secured Georgieva’s place in her home country’s architectural history.
We’re very curious to learn about the architecture of a geographically very close but culturally seen a very far and unknown country like Bulgaria.
