One of our favorite local furniture manufacturers is Luigi Billiani, owner of Billiani 1911 from Manzano, Udine. We are following him and his ideas for many years now and admire his worldwide success. The Croissant Chair, the Doll Table or the Foglia Barstool found their ways into our projects like the Genusswelten Döllerer in Salzburg, Austria.
When I met Luigi here in Grado he told me about one of his latest projects he’s very proud of – the relaunch of the Marcel Table!
Kazuhide Takahama, born Japanese but Italian native since the 1960s, in 1974 conceived the Marcel table for Billiani.
In 2017 the company relaunched this great design object in chromed metal rod with transparent or smoky glass top and adds some material variations – introducing marble and lacquered wood as an alternative table top. Billiani also extended the format options but maintains the same proportions. Today the table is available in five different sizes.

About the designer:
Kazuhide Takahama was born in Japan in 1930. In 1957 he designed the Japanese stand at the XI Triennial in Milan where he met Dino Gavina, marking the start of a prolific working relationship and lasting friendship. Kazuhide Takahama moved to Italy where he was commissioned by various Italian design houses, both for residential and public projects. Amongst these were the facade and the VIP lounge at Guglielmo Marconi Airport and the shelters at Bologna’s bus stops. He died in Bologna aged 80 in 2010.
