To be honest, fashion and trends don’t really matter that much when it comes down to real world problems as posted in our previous blog about the Building Peace Foundation. However, there are some very interesting “fashion meets art “initiatives around trying to help in both, global and local areas.
One of them is Citizens of Humanity, a California based premium denim brand that launched HUMANITY Magazine back in 2012. Celebrating the launch of its eight issue, Citizens of Humanity in collaboration with Reyer’s Labor Gallery in Hallein, south of Salzburg, will open the exhibition HUMANITY N°8 on Thursday, September 16th, 2016.
The photo exhibition features photography – artworks of Francesco Carrozzini, Rafael Pulido, Scott Lipps and Lee Jaffe featuring game changers like artist and activist Yoko Ono or Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis. The images with Anthony were taken at the Sheats-Goldstein Residence designed by John Lautner between 1961 and 1963. The house is an example of American Organic Architecture that derives its form as an extension of the natural environment and of the individual for whom it was built.
Proceeds from the work sold will benefit charities including Silverlake Conservatory of Music, which of course, was founded by Flea with Kiedis serving as a board member.
The exhibition will be open until November 14th, 2016. Address: Reyer Labor, Weissgerberweg 2-6, A-5400 Hallein, Salzburg, Austria.
Please make sure to take a copy of HUMANITY N°8 with you when passing by.
