During our last visit in fabulous Cape Town, South Africa by accident we popped into a cute little store located at 201 Bree Street and Buiten Street. Skinny LaMinx is a design company that’a all about mid-century style, scandi-inspired, japanese-crazed pattern & colour, with a dose of African chic thrown in for good measure.
Heather Moore was making papercuts and screenprints in her little studio back in 2007 which she sold online. Having grown enough by 2012 Heather opened her first store in central Cape Town. As self-taught illustrator and designer Heather works on a range of mediums, from paper cutting to screen printing, her fabric designs adorn clothing, bags, home accessories and more. In her light & airy studio, located above the shop, the Team Skinny is cutting, sewing and packing to ship their goods to homes and stores worldwide.
Each year, Skinny laMinx launches a new textile collection and brings out new fabric and paper products for sale. View catalogues here
Bringing back to Europe some nice samples of the Flower Dreams Collection we always were quite curious since then when there’ll be the right moment to introduce Skinny laMinx for the first time to one of our clients. Now time has come to use some of their new fabrics in one of our recently renovated Italian homes. Not to mention that Skinny laMinx is proudly made in South Africa!
