Cumini, a well known furniture store in Gemona next to Udine hosts a workshop today about ARTEK, founded in Helsinki, Finland by four young idealists Alvar and Aino Alto, Marie Gullichsen and Nils-Gustav Hahl in 1935. Their intention was to ‘sell furniture and to promote a modern culture of living by exhibitions and other educational means’.
Their timeless classics are shown in an exhibition at Cumini’s showroom (explaining revolutionary construction details from the 1930’s) combined with new pieces created by famous today’s designers exclusively for ARTEK.
