Have you ever been to Los Angeles, California? For me it’s one of the most inspiring and vibrating metropolitan areas in the world. Many Europeans don’t like L.A. because travelling there as tourists at first sight it seems to offer little to them. Leaving behind the Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills and other so called highlights L.A. comes up with much more than (maybe) any other city in the world does. Maybe it’s because they are not architects, maybe because they don’t scratch a bit and experience what it really has to offer – but not at first sight, you have to see it, feel it, experience and find it!
When it comes to architecture, design, history of the “West” and lifestyle I would never choose another city to go.
A view days ago I read an article at the L.A. Times about Rick Prelinger’s new movie Lost Landscapes of Los Angeles made by putting together home movies and studio outtakes, primarily driving footage that serves as background in scenes where characters ride in cars or buses. What a great idea, unfortunately as for now there is no possibility to watch the movie here in Europe.
In the meantime watch the movie LOS ANGELES by Ian Wood on Vimeo and get inspired. When will you plan your next/first trip to Los Angeles, California?
…and please: Mr. Prelinger, bring your movie to Europe!
